A Lulu B. Birthday Cake

This week was fun for me as I got to make a cake inspired by Elisa Strauss, owner of Confetti Cakes.  The birthday girl was having her 85th birthday (hence the date of the wine), and her family wanted to do something special for her.

They sent me the link to her favourite wine, Lulu B., but we changed the logo to say Lulu Di, which better represented the client.

We also made chocolate cupcakes with bunches of grapes on the top to go along with the theme:

An Artist's Birthday Cake

Here are a few snapshots of a recent "masterpiece" of mine.  A friend wanted to surprise his artistic wife with a special 30th birthday cake.

Everything was edible, including the paintbrushes and tubes.  Colour was added with royal icing and brushed strokes of food colouring.  The cake itself was red velvet with cream cheese filling.

My friend sent photos of some of the equipment his wife uses so I would have a good idea of what to make.  He said to make it a bit "messy" as if she was in the middle of her own masterpiece.  I am very pleased with the outcome!

If you are a fan on Facebook, you would have seen this picture below: a taste of what it took to make all of the accessories!
