I have done several motorcycle cakes since I started cake decorating so I thought I'd post a few this week. A couple of weeks ago I made the green one (above). It was chocolate, on top of a half-slab containing carrot cake and chocolate cake. Each of these cakes was made for a surprise party, and this one was for a "fittieth" birthday. She let me decorate the slab as I wished, and laughed when she saw the road; she and her husband had apparently tipped over during a road trip, and the bike cake resembled the position of the bike after the accident.
These next two motorcycles look virtually the same - one is actually much larger than the other. The bottom one is the first one I ever made. I spent a lot of hours on it, trying to replicate the actual motorbike. They certainly get easier the more I make!
The first pink bike is red velvet cake, and the last (original) bike is chocolate. Even the wheels are made of cake, and the handle bars and other motor parts are made of gumpaste and hand painted silver. I always try and personalize each vehicle I make, which each client really appreciates.
Wedding season has arrived here, so I will be posting some of them in June, but I am excited to show some other creative cakes first. Have a great week!
Hey, by the way...if you like what you see here, why not become a follower or a facebook fan? There's always something interesting going on!
