Back in December a couple were home from Edmonton, AB to plan their wedding. The groom is a military man, so they asked for a tank for their cake. They sent me photos of various tanks, and I made a cake version of it, with the two of them riding in the top. It was banana cake with cream cheese filling.
The little square cupcakes were 2"x2" of vanilla butter cake with vanilla buttercream and covered with fondant. Each was decorated with a pretty "B" in royal icing; their last initial. 87 little cakes took a lot longer than I had anticipated, so we were pretty pressed for time. I arrived at the reception hall while people were arriving for the pre-reception drinks. Everyone swarmed the tank with their cameras, so I had a hard time getting it set up! I usually do not get to see wedding cake reactions, so it was nice to see it so admired!
