A family friend got married last week and I had the privilege of designing her wedding cake. The bride and groom came in a few months ago with seven different wedding cake pictures, and I came up with a design that brought in ideas from each cake. She also had found a photo of a topper of two birds that were made of cloth, and had me make them out of sugar. Below is the sketch of the cake.
I really enjoyed making the whole cake - I had never done an 8" tall tier before, so I was very pleased when it turned out! The entire cake was dark chocolate with chocolate ganache, and they ordered it with the intentions of serving it at brunch the day after the wedding.
Here is a closeup of the two "love" birds. I wish I'd made two sets of them, I wanted to keep them so much!
Mom and dad were at the wedding and said what a beautiful time it was, and that the cake went over very well. I wish Megan and Andrew all the best!
