A Special Fifth Birthday

Today my daughter turned five, and I still can't believe it! She had a few of her friends over, and most of our extended family came after the party for a BBQ. Despite the other orders I took on this week, as a team, Lily and I pulled off a great dessert table for both sets of visitors!

Lily's favourite cake is chocolate, so we made a chocolate number five. She designed the cake herself and I brought it to light. She did make the ladybugs and butterflies herself (5 each!) and I painted the edges of the wings.

We made lots of cookies: name cookies for her friends (to be placed on their plates), and butterflies and number fives for the cousins and nanny's and poppa's. We also made cake pops and truffles: some were pink pops with fondant butterflies landing on them but I didn't catch them with the camera!

We had a great day playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, running a three-legged race, and eating fruit-kabobs and sugar butterflies. We ended it all with a big water balloon toss! Happy Birthday, Lily!
